| Shitennoji Temple |
|
 The oldest officially administered temple in Japan, Shitennoji was built in 539 by Prince Shotoku (574-622 A.D.), the great cultural hero of early Japanese history who at the age of sixteen successfully triumphed over the opposition and brought about the adoption of Buddhism in the country. |

| Tsutenkaku Tower |

 Ask Osaka's what more than anything else symbolizes their city and the majority will tell you with pride that it is the Tsutenkaku Tower. Although the original tower, which was built in 1912, was destroyed in 1943, it was rebuilt in its present form in 1956. At 103 meters tall, the present tower offers a superb view of the whole of the city from the observation platform. The tower is actually located in the old downtown area and is surrounded by "stand-and-eat" stalls and inexpensive clothing stores. |

 This 1, 800 years old Sumiyoshi is the most popular shrine in Osaka, it was founded in the early 5th century and is considered the host shrine of all the 2,300 Sumiyoshi shrines throughout the country. It is said to provide divine support for the safety on sea route, as well as for the well-being of one's family, business prosperity, and warding off evil fortunes. |

 Is a rapidly developing new town near the Kansai International Airport. The Rinku Gate Tower Building, the symbol of Rinku Town, is the tallest building in Western Japan.  The museum displays a model of the mausoleum of emperor Nintoku, Haniwa (clay images placed in ancient burial mounds). An observatory commands a full view of a group of ancient burial mounds in Ichisuka where nearly 250 mounds of the 6th to 7th century dot the neighbourhood around the museum. |
