Sekisho-in, Mt. Koya

Mt Koya (Koya san) is the centre of Shingon Buddhism, a sect introduced to Japan by Kobo Daishi (aka Kukai). Over 100 temples stand in the small town on top of the wooded mountain. Mt Koya is one of the best places to experience a night at a temple. Sekisho-in is one situated in front of 'okuno-in', a memorial park where many pay pilgrimage to the mausoleum of Kobo Daishi's.
